Mekong 1 day

After breakfast, depart by car to the "rice basket" of Vietnam - the Mekong Delta where the mighty Mekong River ends its journey from mountain of China to the South China Sea, splitting into seven major branches as it traverses the soggy delta, a fertile area of almost 50,000 square kilometers. We'll be sightseeing by sampan, cruising along the quiet back-roads and canals of the Delta, stopping for lunch of tropical fruits and seafood. After lunch, continued exploration of the waterfront villages through the vast rice field landscapes and the home of a local farming family. Return to Saigon in the late afternoon. End of services. Mekong 2 days

Day 1: Saigon – Can Tho

After breakfast, depart by car to the "rice basket" of Vietnam - the Mekong Delta where the mighty Mekong River ends its journey from mountain of China to the South China Sea. The delta is a region of extraordinary energy and market commerce, with burgeoning markets, floating markets, fruit orchards, and more coconuts than you'd want to contemplate. We'll be sightseeing by sampan, cruising along the quiet back-roads and canals of the Delta, stopping for lunch of tropical fruits and local specialties. After lunch, continued exploration of the waterfront villages through the vast rice field landscapes and the home of a local farming family. Accommodation in Can Tho.(Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2: Can Tho - Saigon

Early morning sampan cruise to Cai Rang floating market, through the waterways, and for a short walk to a rice husking mill and a chance at crossing one of the many bamboo "monkey bridges" along the canals. Lunch featuring specialties of the Mekong. Afternoon return to Saigon. Late afternoon and evening free time for relax or last minute shopping on your own. End of services. . (Breakfast, Lunch)

Mekong 3 days (Saigon - Vinh Long – Can Tho)

Day 1: HCM City - Cai Be (Road); Cai Be - Vinh Long (Boat)

Depart HCM in the morning toward Cai Be, where we board a motorized boat and start the Mekong River cruise to visit the pop-rice and rice paper making family before visiting the floating market of Cai Be. After cruising along small shady canals, we step ashore and take a walk to enjoy the rural peaceful atmosphere of the countryside life, on the way we can also stop en route to learn more about tropical fruit trees. Next stop is a longan garden of Mr Ba Hung’s to take a rest on a hammock by the river. Dinner and overnight in a local house or at a house on stilts. (Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2: Vinh Long - Can Tho (Road)

Early in the morning we walk to the rural market place to observe and capture typical trading activities of farmers and gardeners. Continue boating toward Vinh Long for a car drive to Thot Not to visit the beautiful Bang Lang crane bird garden, a unique and protected area in Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, take a leisure hike of 25 minutes into the local village with plenty of shade from the green bamboo trees along the dry-clayed path to watch the different kinds of stock. Then continue to Can Tho. Dinner free. Accommodation in Can Tho. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: Can Tho - HCM City (Boat & Road)

Morning board the Vo Lai boat for a cruise to Cai Rang floating markets. You can even try passing one of the many fragile monkey bridges along the canals. Leave our boat at a dock opposite Cai Rang market and drive back to HCM City in the afternoon. End of services (B, Lunch)

Mekong 3 days (Can Tho – Chau Doc – PhnomPenh)

Day 1: Saigon – Can Tho

Day 2: Can Tho – Chau Doc

Early morning, boat to visit the Cai Rang floating market with visit to a noodle making factory. You can even try passing one of the many fragile monkey bridges along the canals. Then drive to Soc Trang, enjoying the beautiful Delta scenery and meeting the locals, visit the Khmer Temple and the Khmer Museum (if open), the Bat and Clay Pagoda. After that, continue to visit the famous stork sanctuary in Thot Not - Bang Lang, a unique and protected area in the Mekong River. Upon arrival, we start to trek into the peaceful shady village green with bamboo trees along the path. Drive to Chau Doc for the night. Accommodation in Chau Doc. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh

Early departure from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh, Cambodia by speedboat en route clearing immigration and customs (about one hour). Scenic cruise up the Mekong, rural villages and farms lining the river. Arrive Phnom Penh dock about noon. Disembark to get in to Phnom Penh Capital. End of services. (Breakfast, Lunch).

 

Mekong biking 2 days

Day 1. Saigon – Can Tho

Drive to My Tho for a boat trip down the bustling branches of the Mekong and into the tranquil canals. Sightseeing on island: visit to a traditional mekong delta house & kitchen, have seasonal fruit taste with tea and honey, see local rice wine brewery, wine testing, paddling small sampan along arroyos. After lunch in a local family's home, leisure cycling on small dirt roads and the various little bridges through the peaceful villages and farms. Afterwards, local ferry crossing and onto Can Tho, the heart city of the Mekong Delta. Accommodation in Can Tho (Lunch, Dinner)

Biking distance: 20 to 30km, easy biking.

Day 2: CanTho - Saigon

Morning boat trip to CaiRang Floating Market and up a quiet canal for more cruise on winding arroyos. Then bike the backcountry roads 2 hrs to enjoy the beautiful Delta scenery and meet the locals. After lunch we head back to Saigon. Tour ends. (Breakfast, Lunch)
